THE ARCHANGEL-X TRILOGY

Space soldier in combat suit firing weapon during space battle with explosions and spaceships

by William Hayashi

Set across the near future — beginning roughly ten years after the events of the preceding Darkside Trilogy — The Archangel-X Trilogy unfolds across Earth, its orbit, and the wider reaches of the Milky Way galaxy.

At the heart of the trilogy is astrophysicist Christopher Wright, who leads a community of African Americans living aboard their own self-sufficient space colony. Their defining mission: to perfect faster-than-light travel, explore planets and moons beyond our solar system, and ultimately locate and trade with far more advanced alien civilizations.

The colony has imposed a hard condition on Earth — no access to space until all the world’s nuclear weapons are surrendered — leaving an undeclared state of war simmering between the colonists and their home planet. The primary antagonist is the United States government. Driven by a lust to seize the colony’s advanced technology, the U.S. military fires on colonial spacecraft, the CIA moves against the colony, and Washington relentlessly attempts to subdue and control what it cannot possess.

As the series progresses, Christopher and his team investigate secrets buried beneath the frozen surfaces of ice-covered moons, push the boundaries of sub-light and faster-than-light technology, and navigate the complex sociological challenges of building a truly independent civilization — free from Earth’s influence.

The elusive endgame is enormous: if the colony fails, humanity loses its only path to the stars, its one chance at contact with advanced alien worlds, and its best hope of escaping a war-bound, nuclear-armed Earth. The colony represents nothing less than the future of self-determination for a people who have claimed space as their own.

QUARANTINE: VOLUME 1 OF THE ARCHANGEL-X TRILOGY
Ten years following the events of Confrontation…
After denying the people of Earth access to space until they’ve completely divested themselves of all the world’s nuclear weapons, an undeclared state of war still exists between the all-Black space colony and the people of their beautiful, blue home-world.

Despite their best efforts, the former space-capable nations of Earth are denied any manned or unmanned access off-planet. For Astrophysicist Christopher Wright, the journey he began many years ago had all but seemed to grind to a halt. That is until a revolution of the mind sparked an interest in faster-than-light travel. Now, he and his extended family have turned their attention to exploring other planets and moons outside the solar system. They must advance their research into this specialized form of travel. The dream: to locate and trade with far more advanced, alien civilizations beyond the reaches of man.

His lifelong companions, Chuck and Peanut, join Christopher on his crusade, whose endless bond fortifies the hope of better things. But the birth of the concept of venturing into space, everything is a gamble. Now, the people of Earth continue to press forward with their intentions of upending the all-Black space colony’s agenda. And soon, everyone will have to decide if it’s worth the risk.

ENMITY: VOLUME 2 OF THE ARCHANGEL-X TRILOGY

The Battle for Liberation Continues…

A de facto state of war persists between the United States of America and man’s only space-based civilization: a community of African Americans inhabiting their own space station. Christopher Wright leads the separatists of the Black Space Colony in its endeavor to perfect sub-light travel through the mastery of technology while navigating the sociological challenges of becoming completely independent from Earth.

With the arrival of new recruits from Earth comes the challenge of integration. Along with that, they chart their own path, concentrating on self-determination and eliminating the influence of white America. Driven by lust to attain the advanced technology of the Colony, the action revs up. The team of space colonists investigates secrets buried under hundreds of miles of the frozen exterior of ice-covered moons.

As Christopher rallies his team to press forward against all odds, they take a deep dive into further developing their innovative isolated, off-Earth community. But complications mount up. Soon, they must tackle the rising growing pains amongst the second generation of colonists as well. They are collectively concerned about their current existence and plans for the future.

Up against this unique backdrop, the U.S. Government continues its marred efforts to subdue the Colony and attain its exceptional technology. Any hope of peace between the two is all but decimated when hostilities between Earth and the Colony escalated with the killing of two female colonial pilots as the U.S. military fired upon their spacecraft with rail gun technology. In response, the Colony destroyed every factory and support facility as an unspoken warning to discontinue the construction and distribution of that class of weapon. This sparks a confrontation between the C.I.A. and the Colony, as Christopher considers his next move to demonstrate the Colony’s process against the President of the United States herself.

enlightenment

ENLIGHTENMENT: VOLUME 3 OF THE ARCHANGEL-X TRILOGY

Earth wanted their technology. The galaxy wanted their attention. The colony had other plans.

The world kept its promise. Every nuclear weapon — dismantled. Every warhead — destroyed. The terms have been met, and now the colony must keep its word.

But freedom is never simple.

As Christopher Wright and his people prepare to honor the agreement that has kept an uneasy peace between Earth and the stars, forces on both sides of that fragile line are pushing toward a confrontation that no treaty can prevent. The colony has grown. It has thrived. And it has quietly been reaching toward something the world below could never take from them — the universe itself.

For decades, the second generation has looked beyond the asteroid belt, beyond the solar system, beyond everything their parents built and fought to protect. Now, with a breakthrough that defies the limits of known science, the stars are no longer a dream…They are a destination!

The colony came from nothing. They built everything.

And no… Now they’re leaving.

Enlightenment is the stunning conclusion to William Hayashi’s landmark trilogy — a story about what people build when no one is watching, what they protect when everything is at stake, and what becomes possible when a community refuses to accept the boundaries the world placed around them.

For fans who have followed Christopher, Benjamin, Peanut, and the colony from the moon to the asteroid belt — this is the payoff. For new readers discovering the Archangel-X Trilogy for the first time — this is the beginning of something much, much larger.
