Cosby Media Production, Incorporated (CMP) is a full-service entertainment company that focuses on new intellectual properties in books and comics (through our Imprint Starchild Comics) with viability for development into television and film. New content is already in development with networking and partnership opportunities available for future endeavors. CMP focuses on creating content with positive messaging that entertains and inspires.

In 2023, CMP was honored as the Media Innovator Award Recipient as Best Independent Book Publishing Company 2023 for Georgia by INNOVATIONS IN BUSINESS. CMP then followed up in 2024 by winning Entertainment Company of the Year by Corporate Livewire for Innovation and Excellence.

The Team

Braxton and his wife Shontel Cosby have several years of experience in the entertainment business. Braxton is an accomplished actor with credits in television and short films. He is recognized as an award-winning author for his books, comic scripts, and multiple screenplays.  Shontel is an up-and-coming acting talent with over ten years of experience in the industry. Her tenure in marketing and sales is a powerful asset for the company. With vision and desire to take entertainment to the next level, this second generation of Cosbys is poised for success.

Cosby is a visionary and mogul. Over the years, Cosby has worked at multiple levels of entertainment. He is a multi-award-winning author who has penned over 19 books, ranging from health and wellness to young adult, and autobiographies. Cosby has also executive produced the short film version of the superhero movie Triumphant. Braxton has modeled for multiple companies and appeared in various television shows and films as an American-trained actor.   

Braxton A. Cosby is a dreamer with a vision of continuously evolving and maximizing the untapped potential of the human spirit. Braxton received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Physical Therapy (with honors) from the University of Miami. Braxton has made it his personal mission to change lifestyles – one bad habit at a time. And now he’s getting you in shape. “I feel that God has given me a calling to help people,” says Cosby.

This certified Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer co-hosted a weekly radio show Ask The Fat Doctors with Jamie Dukes (analyst for the NFL Network). It ran on Atlanta’s own 1380 WAOK. He now hosts his own monthly podcast Fat Free: Ask The Fat Doc where they discuss health/wellness and current events. Cosby also partnered with Jamie Dukes on his Chachersize video workout program to create Chachersize for Men. He conducted Boot Camps in the Atlanta metro area, while also helping clients lose weight and focusing on their fitness goals.

Professional Career

Professionally, he has been featured as the keynote speaker at the 2012 Atlanta CARES STEMFest for Children and Young Adults. He presented for Mercer College School of Medicine and the Louisiana Medical Society’s Focus on Exercise and Fitness. He’s partnered with Emory University as a clinical instructor and worked with a major rehabilitation company in geriatrics. As a public speaker, Cosby has given panels on Pop Culture and writing at multiple Comic Conventions nationwide. He’s also delivered over 18 continuing education courses for large companies such as Sundance and Genesis Rehab.

His health book Fat Free For Life: 13 Principles of Guaranteed Weight Loss and Ultimate Health was published on January 6, 2016, by Charisma House Publishing. It received endorsements from both Bill Cosby himself and former Olympian and World Champion sprinter Gail Devers. Look for the Second Edition of this complete health and wellness book coming January 1, 2025, from CMP.

Braxton was honored by JEZEBEL Magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful Atlantans. But not only for his looks but for his dedication to service in the community and beyond. He starred in TRIUMPHANT, the short film based on a Christian comic book character. You can also catch Braxton of ID Network on syndicated shows such as Snapped Killer Couples.

As a CEO, Cosby is proud to note that over the last 10 years as a Small Press book publishing company, Cosby Media Productions, Inc. (CMP) has acquired the rights to over 50 original novels and stories, and moved over 30,000 units, from 30 authors across ebook, paperback, and hardcover formats. In 2021, this visionary (Cosby) formed Starchild Comics. It is the comic imprint of CMP and follows a hybrid publishing model, creating comic books that expand on the stories of existing novels from the authors already signed to CMP. In this short time, with a team of amazing artists and talents, Starchild Comics has published 7 comic books with more already slated for production.

Writing

As an author, Cosby’s health book Fat Free for Life: 13 Principles for Guaranteed Weight Loss and Ultimate Health was published by Siloam, of Charisma Media in early 2016, using his background as a Physical Therapist to educate and inspire many to lose weight and focus on mental and spiritual wellness as a means of obtaining a happier life.

Cosby has won over 10 book awards and accolades for his writing as a novelist, including his young adult novel Protostar, which earned Readers’ Favorite Book of the Year Award for Sci-Fi Romance, as well as the Literary Classics International Book Award for Sci-Fi Young Adult. His adapted screenplay for Protostar was a Quarter-finalist in the 2020 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenplay Competition. Cosby’s superhero series The Cape, is included in the overarching story of superhero fiction with five other authors through Cosby Media Productions, Inc., of which he serves as the CEO. The CMPDSU or the Cosby Media Productions Dedicated Superhero Universe, covers 19 novels and 5 comic books, and continues to grow.

But Cosby’s love of writing isn’t limited to just books. He has penned two short film pilots; Ira and Destiny Revealed, as well as written four films including The Big Weekend (comedy), the aforementioned Protostar (sci-fi), The Inheritance (drama/sci-fi), and Triumphant (superhero). Cosby has also narrated over 5 of his novels for distribution.

NYT bestselling author Adriana Trigiani called Cosby’s work, “daring, exciting and romantic. It’s an imaginative science fiction adventure; chock full of memorable characters,” NAACP Award-winner Tanarive Due heralded Cosby’s works as “personal and well-thought-out.” The book Steel Reign: Flight of the Starship Concord (an International Bestseller) was a finalist for the IAN Book of the Year Awards for Science Fiction, a Kindle Book Review Semi-Finalist, and a Literary Titan Book of the Month award-winner for Science Fiction. He’s written 3 comic book screenplays based on his works of The CapeBroken, and Steel Reign.

Workplace

With over 12 years of Marketing and Sales experience, Shontel is results-driven. This mentality has led her to continued success throughout her career in entertainment, healthcare, and non-profit industries. Never afraid of a challenge, she finds comfort in thinking “outside the box.”

She attended the University of Houston with a focus in Public Relations. Theater, she eventually graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communication. She later went on to climb the corporate ladder in Healthcare Marketing for companies such as Altus Healthcare Management Services and Legacy Community Health. There she served as Director to Business Development for the south Texas region. 

Shontel focuses on developing strategies to meet sales objectives. Her expertise is marketing, public relations, and overseeing outreach and promotion for many of our programs. She spearheads CMP’s promotional campaigns and book signing events.  She is a dedicated leader who believes in driving business by cultivating strong relationships. Shontel uses savvy strategies to best produce results for the long term.

Acting

She is also a rising star in the entertainment industry.  Shontel has credits with over 10 independent films and multiple national commercials. These have aired across the country for companies such as Cadillac, Verizon Wireless, DISH Network, and Foot Locker.

Shontel has never lost her passion for film. While working in corporate America, she continues to take acting classes, audition, and work on film projects. She starred in the web series called FEMININE which has racked up over 200,000 views.

Today, by the grace of God, Shontel is accomplishing things she always knew she could. She relocated to Atlanta to focus on her craft full-time, she can now be seen in her role as Renee in “Queen Sugar”, directed by Ava Duvernay and televised on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Her other notable project “Murder Chose Me” airs on the Discovery Channel.
